On 15th July, 2018 Honorable Commerce Minister Mr. Tofail Ahmed MP handed over National Export Gold Trophy for fiscal year 2014-15 to top exporters, at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka. Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem, Honorary Consul of Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic, Chairman and Co-founder of ServicEngine BPO and Deputy Managing Director of Abdul Monem Group won the National Export Gold Trophy in 4th consecutive years for its contribution to the country’s export trade in Computer software.

Mohiuddin Monem Wins National Export Gold Trophy for 5TH Consecutive Times

Dhaka, Bangladesh: The Government of Bangladesh has provided number of enterprises with the National Export Trophy for 2015-16 fiscals in recognition of their respective contribution to the country’s export trade. Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bangladesh H.E. Milan Hovorka and Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Bangladesh Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem called on State Minister of Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam, M.P on June 20, 2018. Later on H.E., Honorary Consul and a reputed financial Intuition of the Czech Republic had a meeting with Acting Secretary Ms. Quamrun Naher Ahmed, Financial Institution Division, Ministry of Finance. During the call on they considered ways to enhance the bilateral trade ties between the Czech Republic and Bangladesh. They also had a curtsey call with State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources of Bangladesh Mr. Nasrul Hamid to discuss bilateral cooperation in power and energy related sectors.
On 21st June, 2018, H.E., Honorary Consul and the Financial Institution team of the Czech Republic made a courtesy call with the Governor of Bangladesh Bank Mr. Fazle Kabir. Throughout the session they exchanged ideas on various issues regarding bilateral relations between the two countries.
During his working visit to Dhaka, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bangladesh had three more productive meetings with the representatives of the Bangladesh Government. Annual Meeting of Honorary Consuls

On March 22nd to 23rd 2018, the Czech Embassy in Delhi hosted the annual meeting of the Honorary Consuls of the Czech Republic in India as well as in Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka, which the Embassy is responsible for. The agenda of the meeting focused on such issues as promotional events, work-plans for the year, consular activities and cultural exchanges. Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Milan Hovorka thanked all present Honorary Consuls for their services and their tireless efforts to promote relations with the Czech Republic.

The Czech Delegation of 11 members for the 136th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Bangladesh led by Mr. Stanislav Grospic (Deputy Speaker of the Czech Parliament) and the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Mr. ASM Mohiuddin Monem had a call on with Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, Honorable Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh at Prime Minister’s Office on April 05, 2017. During the call on they discussed various bilateral issues and areas of cooperation. Recalling the Czech support to Bangladesh’s liberation war the Prime Minister laid importance on avoidance of double taxation, forging economic cooperation and defense cooperation with Czech Republic to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Delegates also shared their great experience at the IPU Assembly and at the Honorary Consulate in Dhaka.
Asia Europe Meeting, ASEM FMM14-Madrid, Spain

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Martin Tlapa had a bilateral meeting with the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh Md. Shahriar Alam. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 14th Foreign Minister’s Meeting of Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM FMM14) at Madrid, Spain, on December 15-16, 2019. Bangladesh became a member of ASEM in 2012. The ASEM Finance Ministers’ meeting will take place in Dhaka in mid-2020.
ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) is an intergovernmental process established in 1996 to foster dialogue and cooperation between Asia and Europe. Presently it comprises 53 partners: 30 European and 21 Asian countries, the European Union and the ASEAN Secretariat. ASEM addresses political, economic, financial, social, cultural, and educational issues of common interest in a spirit of mutual respect and equal partnership. The Czech Republic has been a partner of ASEM since 2004. “At a time when multilateralism is under challenge, the value of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) as a defender of rules-based multilateralism and free and fair trade is more important than ever”, said Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Martin Tlapa. A ministerial meeting was attended by a delegation from India led by the Minister of State for External Affairs Vellamvelly Muraleedharan. India joined ASEM in 2008.
Regular participation at ASEM events allows partner countries to make a number of bilateral meetings in one place at the same time. During the ASEM ministerial session in Madrid the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Tomáš Petříček had bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Japan and Laos and briefly spoke also with the Ministers from Singapore, Thailand, and Kazakhstan.

Czech Republic envoy calls on Mohali DC
Czech Republic Ambassador to India, Eliska Zigova, today called on Deputy Commissioner, Aashika Jain in Mohali. She interacted with the DC on the former’s initiatives to making rural women self-reliant by setting up self-help groups at village level.
Impressing upon the exhibition of various products prepared by various women groups, she said the initiative was well received and may be beneficial for other women too who need to set up their home-based small businesses by forming a group.
The DC is making extra efforts for women empowerment by encouraging rural women to develop their entrepreneurial skills, which is a remarkable achievement. I wish her success and Czech Embassy will provide the entrepreneurs with a platform to market their products manufactured by these women,” the Ambassador said, while interacted with the women members of self-help groups.

ECONOMY Czech car production rises, EV demand falls
Czech automakers produced nearly 1.1 million passenger cars in the first three quarters of 2024, an 8 percent increase year-on-year. However, electric vehicle (EV) production accounted for just a tenth of this output, with demand for EVs declining across Europe despite EU efforts to promote them over internal combustion engines. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Honorable Tomas Petricek has visited to India with his officials as well as business delegation on Monday, January 13, 2020 upon the invitation of the Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Mrs. Martina Tauberová and representatives of media are also in the delegation. The accompanying business delegation is led by Vice President of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic Mr Radek Spicar.

Another Agreement signing ceremony has been done successfully

New Agreement between the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the Government of the Czech Republic for the Avoidance of Double Taxation with Respect to Taxes on Income and for the Prevention of Tax Evasion Avoidance has been concluded on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, in Prague. The Agreement was signed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the Czech Republic Ms. Alena Schillerová and by Senior Secretary, Internal Resources Division & Chairman, National Board of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mr. Mohamed Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan. The agreement will enter into force after ratification by both countries.
Celebration of 30th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution

Czechs and Slovaks celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution. Ambassador of the Czech Republic Milan Hovorka and Ambassador of the Slovak Republic Ivan Lancaric hosted Velvet Street Event in New Delhi on November 21, 2019 to mark the 30th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution which brought about the bloodless overthrow of 42 years of a one-party communist rule in the then Czechoslovakia and saw its return to the community of democratic countries. The Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Bangladesh Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem also took part in the Velvet Street Event.
Best Tax Payer Award

Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem, Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic, Dhaka, Deputy Managing Director of Abdul Monem Ltd. and Chairman of ServicEngine Ltd., has been honored with the Best Tax Payer Award by the government of Bangladesh for the sixth consecutive year. Mr. Monem has praised this initiative taken by the government and expect the Tax-GDP of the country to reach a standard level in the coming years. He has also encouraged everyone to submit both individual and institutional tax returns to support the government to increase the tax revenue that will lead the country to further development.
Annual Meeting of the Honorary Consuls of the Czech Republic, 2019

The Czech Embassy in Delhi held the Annual Meeting of the Honorary Consuls of the Czech Republic on September 25th, 2019. The meeting which was chaired by Ambassador Milan Hovorka, focused on the ways how to develop and enhance bilateral relations of Czechia with India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka, and on such issues as trade and investment promotion, consular services and cultural exchanges. Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Hovorka thanked Rashmi Jolly, Honorary Consul in Mumbai, Vishnu Agarwal, Honorary Consul General in Kathmandu, Utsav Parekh, Honorary Consul in Kolkata, Mohiuddin Monem, Honorary Consul in Dhaka, Lohitha Samarawickrema, Honorary Consul in Colombo, C. S. Prakash, Honorary Consul in Bengaluru for their great service and continuous support.
National Day joint reception, 2019

On the occasion of the Czech and Slovak National Days, a joint Reception was organized in New Delhi on September 24, 2019. Honorary Consul Mr. A S M Mohiuddin Monem also present there to celebrate the day.
This was already second remarkable event organized jointly by both the Czech and Slovak Embassies. The last one in October 2018 was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovakia.
Again two cultural groups from Czechia and Slovakia performed at the Reception.
The first group Balet DFXŠ Liberec, which represented Divadlo F. X. Šaldy Liberec Theatre, one of the oldest theatres in the Czech Republic, in the city of Liberec, brought a modern and classical dance. The group performed various dances from their show called “Around the World”, inspired by different countries, places and dancing styles.
The second folklore group Zemplin, celebrating 63 years of their existence, represented a traditional dance and music from Michalovice in the Eastern part of Slovakia. They danced in traditional costumes from the region of Zemplin.
Delicious Indian food, as well as culinary specialties and drinks from Czechia and Slovakia were available.

Export Trophy 2016-2017

On 1st September 2019 A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem, Honorary Consul, Consulate of the Czech Republic, Dhaka and the Chairman and Co-founder of ServicEngine BPO, has been receiving this export trophy for Six consecutive years for ServicEngine’s contribution to the “Vision 2021 of Digital Bangladesh”. Mr. ASM Mohiuddin Monem is the younger son of renowned industrialist Mr. Abdul Monem. He also holds the title of CIP (Commercially Important Person).
The Government of Bangladesh has provided number of enterprises with the National Export Trophy for 2016-17 fiscals in recognition of their respective contribution to the country’s export trade. Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the trophies and certificates to award winners. The trophies were given in three categories – gold, silver and bronze. There were several important export-oriented sectors participating in the event. ServicEngine won the National Export Gold Trophy for its contribution to the country’s export trade in Computer software.
Curtsey call on with Defence Secretary

On 12th June 2019, Ambassador to Bangladesh based in Delhi H.E. Mr. Milan Hovorka, Honorary Consul Mr. A S M Mohiuddin Monem and members of a high powered business delegation representing the Czech defence and security sector made a curtsey call on Secretary of Defence Mr. Akter Hossain Bhuiyan in Dhaka on February 12th, 2019. “Yet another positive meeting proving the genuine interest of both countries in working together in this important sector,” the Ambassador appreciated both the content and tone of the exchanges.

On 11th June 2019 H.E. Ambassador Mr. Milan Hovorka and Mr. A S M Mohiuddin Monem, Honorary Consul had a curtsy call on with Chief of Air Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, Bangladesh Air Force in his office, Dhaka on to discuss how to enhance the aviation footprint in Bangladesh with the mutually advantageous cooperation between the two countries.
Bangladesh-Czech Business Forum, 2019

The Czech-Bangladesh Business Forum-2019, co-hosted by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Delhi and the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Dhaka, was held in Bangladeshi capital on June 11th, 2019 to explore the possibilities of the two countries’ cooperation in the area of defence industry.
Bangladesh and Czech Republic have significant bilateral and trade relationship and there is scope to further strengthen the ties between the two countries, especially in defense sector. Speakers on Tuesday made this comment at a business forum held at Hotel Intercontinental in the capital. Czech Embassy in New Delhi, and Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Bangladesh jointly organized the business forum specially focusing on tapping defense trade between the two countries. Some prominent companies from both countries participated in the forum and displayed their technologies used in the warfare.

On 11th June, 2019, Czech Ambassador H.E. Mr Milan Hovorka, Honorary Consul Mr. A S M Mohiuddin Monem and the Czech delegation had a courtesy call with Minister Mr. Asaduzzaman Khan, Ministry of Home Affairs-Peoples Republic of Bangladesh. They discussed various issues of the two countries’ interests.

A visiting Czech business delegation had a meeting with Honorable Minister Mr. Rashed Khan Menon, Ministry of Civil Aviation, People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The Honorable Minister presided over the meeting where apart from the delegation; other senior officials of the Civil Aviation sector were present. During the outgoing visit of His Excellency the Ambassador Mr. Miloslav Stašek from 28th July to 30th July 2015, The Honorary Consul Mr. ASM Mohiuddin Monem facilitated a Television interview of His Excellency.

Festival at the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh

The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bangladesh H.E. Mr. Miloslav Stašek attended a festival at the Chinese Embassy on 28th July 2015. The event was hosted by the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh H.E. Mr. Ma Mingqiang on the occasion of the Chinese Armed Forces Day.

Office Inauguration Ceremony of the Honorary Consulate in Dhaka

The office of the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Dhaka, Bangladesh was officially inaugurated on 21st April, 2015 through a festive ceremony. Mr. Md. Shahriar Alam M.P, State Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, People’s Republic of Bangladesh, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Dhaka, Bangladesh Hon. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem and Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bangladesh H.E. Mr. Miloslav Stašek, co hosted the event in presence of Ambassadors and dignitaries from different countries as well as high officials from diversified sectors.
With the unveiling of the Czech Emblem and ribbon cutting, the guests inaugurated and entered the newly built office and complemented its outlook and presentable facilities. The ceremony resumed with cake cutting followed by dinner.
Official Accreditation of Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem as the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic

H.E. Mr. Miloslav Stasek, the Honorable Ambassador of the Czech Republic during his visit to Bangladesh during 27 September to 01 October 2014, officially opened the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Bangladesh on 28 September. Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem has been installed as the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic for a five-year period with jurisdiction throughout the territories of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
The induction was completed in a simple ceremony in the premises of the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic. It was concluded with the flag hoisting of the Czech Republic.
H.E. the Ambassador and the Honorary Consul call on the Minister for Industries, Bangladesh

H.E. the Ambassador Mr. Miloslav Stasek and the Honorary Consul Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem met Mr. Amir Hossain Amu, the Honorable Minister for industries of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on 30 October, 2014 at the Ministry of Industries in Motijheel, Dhaka.
There was excellent discussion on various areas of cooperation and collaboration between both the Czech Republic and Bangladesh as well as on the possible sectors of investment by Czech business entities in Bangladesh. The Honorable Minister put forward suggestions that will help open new doors to amplify the investment activities from both sides.
H.E. Mr. Miloslav Stasek invited Mr. Amu to visit Czech Republic soon to promote the participation in large scale industrial projects of Bangladesh, by leading Czech counterparts and strengthen the bilateral relations between the two nations.
H.E. the Ambassador and the Honorary Consul meet the Commerce Minister of Bangladesh

H.E. Mr. Miloslav Stasek, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Bangladesh along with Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem, the Honorary Consul met with Mr. Tofail Ahmed, the Commerce Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on 29 September, 2014 at the Ministry of Commerce, Bangladesh Secretariat, Dhaka.
Both the sides discussed various areas of cooperation and collaboration between the Czech Republic and Bangladesh. The Ambassador appreciated the Commerce Minister’s initiative, proactive engagement and the steps he is taking to bring the ‘Agreement on Trade Promotion and Economic Cooperation’ between Bangladesh and Czech Republic to a concluding outcome. The Commerce Minister announced that the signing of the said agreement will take place shortly in Prague, the capital of Czech Republic where the Minister will lead a delegation very soon. The signing of the agreement will open new doors to amplify the economic activities from both sides as well as create a new market access for Bangladesh, an agenda of the government.
The meeting concluded with a joint press conference to appraise the media of the discussions held and decisions taken, to foster and strengthen the bilateral relations between the nations.
Honorary Consul Calls on Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University

Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem, the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Bangladesh called on Professor Dr. A A M S Arefin Siddique, Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University on 24 August, 2014 to officially inform the Vice Chancellor on the Czech Government Scholarships for Bangladeshi students.
Earlier, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi, India through its Consulate in Bangladesh announced the call for applications for government scholarships for students from Bangladesh, for academic year 2015-2016 by the Government of the Czech Republic.
The scholarships are awarded within the Czech Development Co-operation, one scholarship for a study in the Czech language: – for Bachelor, Master or PhD studies in the field of economics, ecology, energetics, transport engineering or technical studies and another scholarship for a study in the English language: – for Master or PhD studies in the field of economics, agriculture, informatics, environment and energetics.
During the warm and cordial meeting between the Honorary Consul and the VC, they also discussed the scope of students/teachers education and cultural exchange between both the friendly nations as well as technical collaboration from Czech universities and research bodies with the relevant counterparts in Bangladesh.
A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem appointed the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Bangladesh

Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem has been appointed the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Bangladesh. The appointment took place through the appropriate procedure of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both the Czech Republic and Bangladesh.
Mr. Monem received the appointment letter for the post of the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic from Mr. Asad Alam Siam, Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka, Bangladesh recently. He will serve five years in this capacity.
Mr. Monem stated, “This is a great responsibility bestowed upon me to build strong bilateral relations and business ties between the Czech Republic and Bangladesh as well as create a feeling of warmth between the people of both countries. It is also a fabulous opportunity for me to positively project Bangladesh as a friendly nation with healthy business environment, ultimately contributing to the image building of our country”.
Mr. Monem reiterated that he will be very active in promoting the opportunities in Bangladesh and fostering an ongoing relationship with the people of the Czech Republic.
European Film Festival 2014

To popularize European films among the audience of Bangladesh, a seven-day long film festival tilted European Film Festival 2014 was held at the Star Cineplex of Bashundhara City shopping mall from 13 May to 20 May, 2014. This is the second time the festival is taking place in Bangladesh and the European Union along with Star Cineplex organized the event.
A total of 12 movies from 12 different countries of the European Union were shown in the festival. The event was inaugurated with the screening of Almanya, a German movie, at 7:15pm. It was a 2011 German comedy directed by Yasemin Şamdereli and premiered at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival in the section competition and won the “Deutscher Filmpreis 2011” in the categories of Best Script and Best Film.
Ambassador of the European Union in Bangladesh, William Hanna was the special guest at the inaugural ceremony along with Chairman of Star Cineplex Mahbub Rahman and eminent cultural personality Aly Zaker, as Chief Guest.
Other organizers of the event include British High Commission, Embassy of Czech Republic, Denmark, Norway, Germany, France, Italy, Hungary, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland and Netherlands as well as the Honorary Consul (designate at that time) of the Czech Republic in Bangladesh Mr. A.S.M. H.E. Mr. Milan Hovorka will hand over his credentials to the Honorable President of People’s Republic of Bangladesh

Ambassador Designate of the Czech Republic to the Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh H.E. Mr. Milan Hovorka will hand over his credentials to H.E. Mr. Abdul Hamid, the Honorable President of People’s Republic of Bangladesh on 27th June 2016. The PoC ceremony will take place at Bangabhaban, President Palace. On this occasion, H.E. will be traveling to Dhaka together with his spouse, Mrs. Jarmila Hovorková from 25th June 2016 to 28th June 2016. During his stay in Dhaka H.E. is expected to have some high-level meetings with concerned ministers, heads of government agencies and business associations. Apart from the PoC ceremony and official meetings, H.E. will visit the Honorary Consulate and have meeting with Honorary Consul, Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem.

Ambassador Milan Hovorka was born in 1961. In 1984, after graduating at the University of Economics in Prague he worked at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Trade of Czechoslovakia. After fall of communism in Czechoslovakia in 1989 he was sent to Geneva where he worked as a representative at the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic to the UN and other international organizations. In 1996 he was appointed the chief director of the Section for bilateral trade policy and for relations with the EU and EFTA at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic. Between 1998 and 2004 he became the permanent representative of the Czech Republic to the World Trade Organization in the rank of Ambassador. While being there, he was a permanent representative and afterwards the director of the Mission and a member of various elected WTO bodies, including chair of the Council for Trade in Goods. In 2004, he was appointed the director of the Section of European countries and CIC countries at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic. Since 1 September 2007, Milan Hovorka has been Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade. In summer 2015, he has been appointed as the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives. From 1st September 2016 he is in charge of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi.

Yesterday, on 1st January, 2017 Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over National Export Gold Trophy for fiscal year 2013-14 to top exporters, at the inaugural ceremony of Dhaka International Trade Fair 2017, at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka. Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem, also the Chairman and Co-founder of ServicEngine BPO of Abdul Monem Group won the National Export Gold Trophy for 3rd consecutive year of its contribution to the country’s export trade in Computer software.

Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem, honorary consul of Czech Republic in Bangladesh and the Chairman of ServicEngine Ltd.,won the Daily Star ICT Awards on 28th October’16. The Daily Star ICT Awards, first of its kind in the country by a newspaper, aims to recognize individuals and IT firms and raise awareness about the role of ICT in nation-building, and to encourage innovation and excellence among ICT talents and enterprises.
Mr. Monem received the trophy as the Chairman of ServicEngine Ltd. Finance Minister of People’s Republic of Bangladesh AMA Muhith handed over the trophies to the winners of “The Daily Star ICT Awards” at Le Méridien hotel in Dhaka. ServicEngineBPO, a Dhaka-based business process outsourcing firm and a business unit of Abdul Monem Group, won the ICT Solution Provider of the Year award in the international market focus category. The company, which also has office in the US, has been named in The Global Outsourcing 100, an annual listing of the world’s best outsourcing service providers compiled by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals, for the third consecutive year.
The Daily Star and the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) honored four individuals and as many information technology firms for their contribution to the country’s ICT industry. This is now seen as the next big export sector after garments.

Honorary Consul Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem Won the National Export Gold Trophy

The Government of Bangladesh has provided 111 enterprises with the National Export Trophy for 2011-12 and 2012-13 fiscals in recognition of their respective contribution to the country’s export trade. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has handed over the trophies and certificates to award winners at Osmani Memorial Auditorium Sunday 28 August 2016. Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) has rewarded 60 enterprises for 2012-13 and 51 enterprises for 2011-12. The trophies were given in three categories – gold, silver and bronze. There were several important export oriented sectors participated in that event.

Czech Ambassador presented his credentials to honorable President of People’s Republic of Bangladesh on 27th June

H.E. Mr. Milan Hovorka presented to the Honorable President of People’s Republic of Bangladesh Mr. Abdul Hamid the Letter of Credence on 27th June, 2016 by which the Czech President Milos Zeman had accredited him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh during the ceremony which took place at Bangabhaban, the President’s official residence, on June 27th, 2016. “It was a very special moment in my professional life and I want to believe that it was also an important step forward in a jointly shared objective of bringing long-lasting friendly relationship between the two countries to even a higher level,” said newly appointed Czech Ambassador to Bangladesh on this occasion.
Czech Ambassador H.E Milan Hovorka visited Dhaka from 25th to 28th June

Czech Ambassador to Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Milan Hovorka visited Dhaka together with his spouse, Mrs. Jarmila Hovorková from 25thJune 2016 to 28th June 2016. He was honored to present his Credential to the President of People’s Republic of Bangladesh; Mr. Abdul Hamid at President’s residence, Bangabhaban on 27th June, 2016.
Other than this main programme, H.E. with his wife Ms. Jarmila Hovorková visited the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Dhaka and met the Honorary Consul Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem on June 25, 2016. During the meeting, the Ambassador expressed his heartfelt and sincere gratitude to our Honorary Consul and the Consulate Team for promoting Czechia in Bangladesh and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. He was impressed by the state-of-the-art setup of the Honorary Consulate´s premises and the enthusiasm of the entire Dhaka team.
Ambassador to Bangladesh had the pleasure to visit ADRA Bangladesh on 26th June, 2016 and meet with its staff and clients of Chalantika community center. The Czech Embassy in New Delhi has been supporting Chalantika for the past three years and “It´s very rewarding to see the project supported by the Czech Republic to flourish and make real change to peoples ´lives,” commented on the visit the Ambassador.
During the visit the Czech Ambassador, had the opportunity to meet the Head of EU Delegation. Moreover, H.E. Mr. Milan Hovorka and his spouse attended the rickshaw distribution program of Shine Foundation held on 27th June at Spectra Convention Center of the capital which has been led by Mrs. Asma Monem, the spouse of our Honorary Consul. Shine Foundation distributed twenty rickshaws, vans and some wheel chairs among the disabled people in the presence of the ambassador.
On 28th June, 2016 H.E. and Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic called on State Minister of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources Mr. Nasrul Hamid, Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism Mr. Rashed Khan Menon, Chairman of Board of Investment Mr. Syed A. Samad, Secretary of the Ministry of Defense Mr. Kazi Habibul Awal and Chairman of the Bangladesh Power Development Board Mr. Shamsul Hasan Miah, with whom they discussed the possibilities of mutual cooperation between the two countries in trade, investment, energy, civil aviation, tourism, defense and security. While appreciating both the tone and content of all the meetings he had, Ambassador said, “It has been gratifying to note that Bangladesh looks to Czechia as an important development partner. There is no doubt that both countries would benefit a lot if they work together in a more result oriented manner.”
Later on Tuesday evening, H.E. departed Dhaka for India on 28th June, 2016.

Abdul Monem Group of Companies hosted a business session with Czech companies at its corporate head office in the premises of Monem Business District, Dhaka on 11 March, 2013.
Business delegates from the Czech Republic, Mr. Abdul Monem, Chairman and Managing Director of Abdul Monem Group, Mr. A.S.M. Mainuddin Monem and Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem (designate Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic) , both Deputy Managing Directors of the group, and several business teams
from leading Bangladeshi companies (APEX Group, Spectra Group, GME Group, ServicEngine Limited and Expressions Limited) attended the event of familiarization to investment and business environment in Bangladesh as well as individual company presentations for the audience.
The guests were welcomed by a cultural performance.The Czech Republic delegates, officials from Abdul Monem Group and the other Bangladeshi companies exchanged views on business possibilities between both the countries and on the steps to take for facilitating trade and commerce connecting both the Czech Republic and Bangladesh.
Ambassador’s meeting with Czech Honorary Consuls

On 16th May-17th May 2016, Honorary Consul Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem attended the first ever joint meeting of Honorary Consuls who represent the Czech Republic in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The meeting has been arranged by the Ambassador H.E. Milan Hovorka at Delhi.
The meeting offered an excellent opportunity to discuss how to further deepen and enhance relations between the Czech Republic and respective states in trade, investment, student exchange, tourism and interpersonal relationships.
Honorary consuls were also informed about current developments in the Czech Republic, recent changes in consular practice the country and plans to increase its presence in the region.
H.E. Milan Hovorka summed up: “We had a great meeting. It allowed me and my team to thank the Honorary Consuls for their tireless efforts to promote the interests of the Czech Republic in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka and for their tireless work to strengthen bilateral partnerships with these countries. The meeting provided very productive framework for finding new synergies and for substantial debate on the range of important issues in our bilateral relations, and allowed us to move forward in our shared agenda. At the same time I am delighted that we got to know each other better and managed to build on both professional and personal relationships.”

67th Anniversary of the National Foundation Day of Republic of Korea

H.E. said he will do everything possible to boost Bangladesh-Korea friendly bilateral relationship during his diplomatic assignment here in Bangladesh and open a new chapter of friendship in the next four decades.

11th World Congress of Consuls held in Istanbul – Turkey arranged by FICAC-World Federation of Consuls

Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem, Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Bangladesh attended 11th World Congress of Consuls held in Istanbul – Turkey arranged by FICAC-World Federation of Consuls from 18th to 22nd November’ 2015. Professor Gowher Rizvi, Advisor for International Affairs & Special Representative of the Honorable Prime Minister. Govt. of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh also attended this event as Guest of Honor and key note speaker.
Honorable President of Consular Corps in Bangladesh Asif A Chowdhury has been elected as a member of Board of Directors of World Federation of Consuls (FICAC) securing highest number of votes among SAARC candidates for next 3 years. And FICAC also awarded gold medal to the other three honorary consuls for their outstanding contribution as a member of Consular Corps in Bangladesh.
It may be mentioned that, The World Federation of Consuls (FICAC) has United Nations recognition as an NGO with ECOSOC Status. It is recognized as an NGO by the Organization of American States. It is also recognized as an NGO at the European Union. This body gave consuls of the world a much-needed forum to share experiences and co-ordinate efforts to enhance their status and effectiveness and to bring together Consular Associations and Corps from all around the globe.
